By now you have probably noticed that the entire organ has been removed and transported to Foley Baker’s shop in Connecticut for renovation. You may have noticed the empty spaces in the organ chambers above the altar. We have a replacement organ that we are using now, and the console is in the same place as our old console occupied.

While that replacement is allowing us to function as close to normal as possible, you will be amazed at the difference in sound once our own organ is completely renovated and returned. The work for the renovation of our organ chambers has now been awarded and the work will begin soon. You will soon be seeing stair towers and scaffolding that will be built to allow workers access to the organ chambers. These will have to be kept in place until the chamber restoration work is completed. Kevin Kwan and I will be visiting the Foley Baker shop to check on the progress in early April, and we will be able to report on the progress to date at that time.

You may also have noticed that scaffolding has now gone up in the Lychgate Garden. This is to allow workers to complete repairs to the roof, mortar joints, and flashings that have fallen into disrepair over the years. This scaffolding will be moved from one location to another as work is completed and new areas are repaired. In the next few months, work will begin inside the sanctuary, including the removal of several stained glass windows, and the restoration of the floors and pews.

We are sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause, but I am sure that you will agree that we are now moving forward being proper stewards of our beloved church, organ, worship space and buildings. What an exciting time! As always, please do not hesitate to contact me or any of the Steering committee members if you have questions. You can get our contact information from the Church Office.
