Unmanaged Radioactive Waste

Published on November 24, 2021

Radioactive waste can increase the risks of birth defects, cancer, cardiovascular and immune disorders and other health problems. Recently the government agency proposed allowing “very low-level” radioactive waste to be dumped into poorly managed, unlicensed landfills. Coalitions submitted information against the plan pointing out that this unlawfully endangers the health of communities near the waste sites. Public pressure helped scrap the ill-conceived proposal. Source – Earthjustice
