Christ & St. Luke’s is committed to being a leader in making environmentally-sound choices.  Last year, the vestry adopted a resolution that banned Styrofoam products from church events.  Styrofoam, like other petroleum-based products, does not break down over time and either remains indefinitely in landfills or finds its way into our oceans and waterways.  With the assistance of the Caring for Creation team, we now look to take additional steps to improve the environmental friendliness of Coffee Hour and other such events.

The primary option will be reusable options like ceramic mugs and washable plates and flatware.  If you’re able to stay and socialize for coffee hour, please select these reusable options.

Of course, if you’re pressed for time and can’t stay, though, we still want you to be able to enjoy the coffee hour offerings.  If you have a reusable travel mug, please feel free to fill that at the coffee urns.  (BYOTM)

You’ll also find plant-based, compostable & biodegradable cups at the Coffee Hour table.  These are available for your convenience but please keep in mind that they are a less-environmentally-friendly option.  They also cost about 10¢ each, so please use them sparingly.
