Counseling and treatment for Speech and Language disorders (S.L.) is practically non existent in Kenya. Disabilities are often cultural taboos, especially in rural areas, where children and adults are hidden from neighbors and families. Yet the last team of Together for Kenya volunteers included a veteran Speech and Hearing therapist from Carmel Indiana.

Nazareth Medical College educators were excited to receive professional incite and training for giving direct treatment of S.L. Nursing students were taught the basics of anatomy, psychology, counseling, general health assessments, feeding disorders and hearing impairment.

Thank you to Noel Shilling of Carmel Indiana for helping to begin this critical treatment awareness at Nazareth Medical College. The future is bright!
