Kenya is considered an emerging country in the world. In 2020/21 they experienced the same fears and health issues as other countries regarding COVID, To date Kenya has had 3300 deaths and 173K cases from the virus. Vaccinations do not appear to be an option. Parents, healthcare providers and teachers alike remain wary on how to deal with the pandemic.
During these times Kenyan families have fled from Nairobi and other populated areas to escape COVID and find alternative employment.
In 2019, before the pandemic, Kate and I met Fred and Ester… nine year old siblings from Kawaida Kenya. Both children tried to attend school and find basic necessities as food but unfortunately their father was an alcoholic… “who cared less.” Together for Kenya did assist the family with supplemental food and school fees… but it was a struggle.
At this time the children are missing! We believe they have moved to a remote village to seek employment and protection.
Not every situation Together for Kenya finds leads to success. We continue to seek God’s guidance and direction for safety and security for these precious children.
