Fr. Jared is a native of North Carolina. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Appalachian Studies from Appalachian State University, and a Masters of Divinity from Virginia Theological Seminary. Prior to his ordained ministry, Jared worked as a missionary with the Episcopal Young Adult Service Corp, serving in Lesotho and Italy. This time has formed who he is as a priest, allowing him to bring a broad perspective to his ministry.
Jared was ordained to the priesthood in 2020. Before joining Christ & St. Luke’s, Jared was the Associate Rector at Ascension Episcopal Church in Hickory, NC. He has also served at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in Durham, NC as their children’s and youth minister. Including his time as a camp counselor and director, missionary, and other ministry experiences both lay and ordained, Jared has worked professionally in the church for over a decade. He pulls on all of these experiences to help people walk the road of discipleship.
Jared is married to Jenny. They have two wonderful children, Harrison and Noah. The Grants love to find time to be out in God’s creation, hiking, camping, and splashing in the waves.
