Mutomo, located in south eastern Kenya, is a semi-arid area. It is rural and very dry. There are more donkeys on the road than cars or motorcycles. Mutomo Mission Hospital is the largest employer in the area… most folks rely on unpredictable farming or raising goats and cows.
The Mutomo Hospital serves over 50,000 patients on an annual basis. For over 50 years this hospital has been the only critical care provider within a 100 miles radius. Over 3500 surgical cases and 1100 babies are delivered yearly.
Several months ago the hospital asked for financial help from Together for Kenya. Their 30 year old anesthesia machine was no longersafe and unfortunately jeopardizing surgical care. In cooperation with the Pilgrim Benefaction Fund we were able to provide funding. The new machine has been installed and surgeries are now back on schedule!
On behalf of Mutomo Mission Hospital a heartfelt thank you to the Pilgrim Benefaction Fund and Together for Kenya!
