We are nearing the end with the work on the organ. Most of the pipes are now in place. The organ console has returned, and the electronic organ has been removed. Foley-Baker will return in February for the final work. They will be finishing the pipe placement and the pipes will be voiced, and the organ renovation will be complete. You will be amazed at the sound once the work is done. This vital renovation will truly enhance our liturgy and maintain our important position as a leading venue for the arts in the region.
Beginning next Monday, the scaffolding will go back up in the interior to allow the final work on the new lighting fixtures. This scaffolding will be placed again in the sanctuary as you remember from before, and the expectation is that this work will be completed by February 8. We are sorry for any inconvenience, but we know that you will be happy with the new lighting when the work is completed.
You may also notice that the stairs leading to the Chancel (Choir Stalls) have been modified for safety and additional flexibility. Before, there were various levels of steps that created unnecessary trip hazards. We have minimized the different levels and hope that this improves safety as well as adding flexibility for singers to stand on the steps.
You have been patient, and we are all grateful for your flexibility. These repairs and renovations are so important to the maintenance of our historic but vibrant church building. We will keep you updated as the final work is completed.
