In the U.S. coastal areas scientific research is showing that human changes to wetlands, flood plans, reefs, stream beds and barrier islands are contributing to flooding in nearby cities and towns. North Carolina passed a law that “engages private companies to efficiently deliver projects that restore wetlands.” Flooding in Goldsboro was reduced by the restoration of 500 acres of wetlands. This is a blueprint that can be followed by other coastal states ravaged by floods. Source – EDF Solutions
