We are accustomed to seeing the Bible as “a product”—a set of texts coming, ultimately, from our encounter with Divinity. In this series, we intentionally employ a different lens. We will look at the Bible as “a process” and focus on the intersection of religious sentiment and lived historical experience in the centuries when the Hebrew Bible took shape. Our goal is to gain fresh insight into the Bible and, therefore, into its meaning for our lives. This six-week exploration of our biblical heritage will be taught by Rabbi Dr. Michael Panitz, Rabbi at Temple Israel in Norfolk and good friend of Christ & St. Lukes.
