Hunger affects both physical and mental development in children. In Kenya, 23 million children go to school without anything to eat. In 2022 Together for Kenya recognized the food crisis in the Kiambu area of Kenya and began a program to support vulnerable and marginalized children in that area of Nairobi. To date we are providing nutritional porridge to children at the Kururi and Kawaida Primary Schools, attended by nearly 2700 children. Recently both school reported some amazing academic statistics and most importantly, we are improving children’s education through improving nutrition.
Both Kururi and Kawaida Primary Schools have experienced an 8.7% increase in enrollment!
Both Kururi and Kawaida Primary Schools have seen a 14% increase in the “mean score” on National Kenya testing!
Recently Kururi and Kawaida have seen 11 students score exceptionally well on national KCPE exams and qualified for admission to top National High Schools! A first for both schools!
Because of your generosity, Together for Kenya annually provides 482,500 meals to both Kururi and Kawaida schools!
On behalf of nearly 2,700 precious children and their teachers, thank you!
