The “heat dome” that occurred in the Pacific Northwest this past summer, with three digit temperatures, normally would occur once every few thousand years, but scientists expect these domes will be more frequent in the future because of our warming climate. Domes with 30 to 40 degree increased temperatures occur when surrounding weather systems are diverted and punishing drought conditions exist. The new norm? Source – The Week
