It takes 100 years for an inch of topsoil to form naturally.  Yet with our current erosion we may lose more than eight times that in the next 15 years.  Our extreme climate change weather may increase these losses.  Good farming/gardening practices can help prevent this by alternating cover crops between cash crops, growing deep rooted plants perennially, improving management of grazing land, etc.  Helping farmers achieve these practices should be a priority.
